The closing date on the new house will be Friday the 12th. We'll be moving in the following Saturday morning. Needless to say, we're getting pretty excited about it. Our drywall/paint walkthrough is next Tuesday. :-)

We finally have a contract on our house. It's a lease purchase agreement, meaning we'll get a down payment up front while the "buyer" leases our house for up to a year. At the end of the year, if he decides to purchase at the price we've already agreed on we will apply his down payment towards it. If he chooses not to buy, we keep it. This will allow us to move into our new house, so the builder will be kicking things into high gear to get everything finished. We're expecting to be in the new house by August 30th.

House Update

The work on our house has started. The lot has been cleared/leveled, and wooden framework has been put up in preparation to lay the concrete slab. It looks like all of the sewage and electricity have been run as well (in our neighborhoods power is run underground.) Alison and I go by there almost every day to check it out, and I keep the wallpaper on my phone set to the latest image.

I had to work on Saturday, so our selection meeting was pushed back one week. This will give Alison a week of extra time to decide on the color of the walls. She took pictures with her phone, and I'm going to use some $5 house painting software we bought at Lowe's to try on some different colors.

Our house is for sale, but we haven't even had anyone want to see it these past three weeks. Hopefully that will change soon. With 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths, it's a great starter home for a couple just starting out and a great one-story home for a retired couple trying to watch their expenses.

Update: Our house is listed here.

Alison and I just made a deal on having a new house built for us, and we signed the paperwork (and paid the earnest money.) We'll have a "redline" meeting in the next week or so to finalize the floorplan, and then we'll start picking out wall colors, etc. Our house is (obviously) also going on sale tomorrow. The house we're having built should be ready by early July, but they might finish earlier if our house sells faster. :-)

Painting

The painting is all done, and things can finally get back to normal around the house. A guy is coming over today to buy my home gym, which means we'll have plenty of room in the "workout room". All that is left is a TV and a treadmill (which we'll use more now that we have the space.)

Here are some pictures of the paint job after we got things back into place. The color before was bone white.

Painting Update

We bought white faceplates, switches, and power receptacles last night at Lowes.  The whole thing cost us around $15, and now our bedroom is decked out with chocolate paint and white trim.  It's really nice...

I now have a bag full of the old beige switch, faceplates, and receptacles.  Since it would only cost around $15 to buy new, I was going to throw it away, but I figured I would ask if any local friends would have a use for it before I trash it...
