Voting

I went to vote this morning in Olive Branch. When I got to the front of the line, the woman there asked my name. I spelled my last name for her, and she started looking for it. She showed me the voter registration info, pointed at a name, and asked if that was me. It was not. I told her that name was before mine alphabetically, and that I was likely on the next page. When she found my name, all I had to do was sign the form and vote. I probably could have voted several times, but I don't roll like that. Well, at least I did my civic duty (and got some free Starbucks coffee!)

In other news, people have complained this morning in Olive Branch about being turned away from the polls. The couple in front of me were two of the people turned away. They lived very near the voting location, but their voter registration cards had them voting at another nearby precinct (because they technically live outside of the city of Olive Branch.) I wonder how many of the people complaining actually went to the address on their voter registration cards.

a couple of years ago I had to go to 2 polling places in order to vote. If you don't update your registration beforehand, you can still vote, but it's just more difficult. It's not the fault of the election commissions if you don't do the right things.

These people had actually registered, but a complete moron designed the Mississippi voter registration cards. My card says "Summershill Fire District" and the top, and I voted at the Summershill Fire Station (because that's where the address said to vote.) Their card said "Summershill Fire District" at the top, but the address was somewhere else (because they live in the county.) Very odd...

The voting locations are strangely positioned- my parents vote by my house, and I vote almost a mile past that location on Quince.

Yeah, I had heard that it was a nuthouse in your area this morning. They said on the radio that some of the lines were 500 people long.
